GLYCERIN
a.k.a. Glycerin USP
Pharmaceutical-grade USP glycerin is present in nearly every BP Derma formulation. It is the foundation of our hydration strategy — a proven, skin-identical molecule that moisturizes without any of the heaviness of occlusive ingredients.
MECHANISM
Hygroscopic polyol that attracts water from both the dermis and atmosphere into the stratum corneum. At 2-5% concentration, strengthens the skin barrier by upregulating aquaporin-3 and filaggrin expression. A key component of the skin's natural moisturizing factor.
