SODIUM PCA

Sodium PCA is the skin's own humectant — the most abundant moisturizing compound in the stratum corneum. Using it in our formulations restores what the skin naturally produces, providing exceptionally natural-feeling moisture.
MECHANISM
Sodium salt of pyroglutamic acid (PCA). Major component of human NMF — comprises 12% of the free amino acid pool in stratum corneum. Highly hygroscopic, absorbing water from the atmosphere. Demonstrated superior humectancy compared to glycerin at equivalent concentrations.
